Sewing and Patchwork

Patchwork

The art of joining small pieces of fabric together to form a larger item. Beginners to advanced are most welcome. Whether you are a first timer venturing into the world of craft, or need a little input for your own more complex project, come to a patchwork class and learn this fantastic, therapeutic skill. There are no restrictions on how long you take to complete your project. Patchwork projects include small items like cushion covers, bags, wall hangings through to large quilts. The other techniques which go hand in hand with patchwork are applique and quilting.

Applique

The art of attaching small pieces of fabric on top of other fabric to create a design. This is achieved in several ways – even a “no sew” version!

Quilting

The art of “sandwiching” your finished patchwork with wadding and backing by stitching – from simple stitching along the seam lines to intricate designs and anywhere in between.

Sewing

All skills are catered for from beginner to advanced, or even if you just need a little input into your own project. In the classes, learn how to use your machine correctly including machine accessories and basic maintenance. We also offer special after school and school holiday ‘learn to sew’ classes. If you are having trouble with a hem or zip, we can help you.
